Photography Club

Last Thursday (24th October 13) I went to the local photography club.  I was excited about going to this club and meeting like minded people.

It was from 7-30pm - 9pm. I hit on a problem, it contained slide projection which is a migraine trigger for me and since it was during the whole meeting I was stuck. I did try and not look but it was difficult.

I still have the cameras and I am still going to play with them just on my own.

However, I did send an email to one of the organisers and told them they said that was a shame but they still wanted me to be a part of the club. To go on photowalks and outings if I'm free.

So it's not all bad :)

friends camera arrived! + one other one

My friend's camera arrived this morning :) a Canon EOS 5000 35mm SLR film Camera with a
Canon 36-76mm Lens and also a Sunagor 28mm f/2.8 wide angle lens and 5 b/w films. I'll be tagging posts with this camera as "Canon EOS 5000".

Also arrived from one of his friends, a Vivitar V3800 35mm SLR film camera with 28-70mm wide to zoom lens. Will be tagging posts with this camera as "Vivitar V3800". This one came pre-loaded with a colour film.

So I know have 3 film cameras and four lenses and LOADS of film! :D

I don't think I'll be getting any more cameras etc arriving but I will keep you posted if I do. Meanwhile I'll have a play about with my new cameras and keep you updated on the progress of this adventure.

21062013.1 update

okay so i went back into town, went into 1hr photo place at around 4pm. they said they'd take a look and come back in an hour. came back in 1hr. gave me back camera said film was blank :(  asked me how i rewound it, told them, they said that was the correct way. Man in camera place said must've been manufacturing fault with film cartridge that made the film pull out of the cartridge more when rewinding instead of pulling backwards *sighs* He also told me to check the back of camera that light is getting through.

anyway he also said i was second one that was in today with a film from a film camera and that film was 1/3 okay, 2/3rds blank. i also dunno how old the colour film i got is, so i have a new b/w film and gonna check camera way man in camera place told me too and try again.

it's all an adventure right? shame though, but nevermind.

21062013.1

okay so adventure 1 out with film camera today, went well :) got the film loaded, got it working no probs UNTIL...

...i went to re-wind it! followed instructions was emailed for it and when opened the back, cartridge came out but the film was still in camera it had broken off! so quickly closed the door.

thanks to twitter friend (mr stu) for help, i phoned local 1hr photo place and basically went down the phone "HELP! my camera is sick!" well i didn't say those exact words but told them what happened. they said to bring it in and they'll do their best to safe the film.

hopefully just a weak film, will see. had a lovely morning out with it too, which meant cause of this i only took 1 roll of film, yes this happened with my first roll of film! and it gives tomorrow to be bad too! anyway am going back into town later and will see what the camera people say about it.

will keep you updated.

trust it to happen to me! lol

First SLR film camera

Today my frist SLR film camera came :D not from friend who is upgrading but from one of his friends :) with 3 rolls of colour film and 1 roll of b/w film! xD

no manual with it, but that's no biggie thanks to mr google found online manual and a you tube video :)

So not to keep you waiting any longer it is *drum roll*

Praktica BC1 35mm SLR Film Camera

oh! and it came with a lens too xD which is useful :)

The lens is marked with Praktica PB 3.5-4.5 / 35-70 MC Pentacon.

So I have my first lens :) I know that 3.5-4.5 usually has f in there, usually written as f/3.5-4.5 and that the 35-70 is 35 -75mm. I know that it's a focal zoom lens, beyond that not much. Though this is a learning curve and will still have fun with it :)

I'll be tagging posts about this camera as "Praktica BC1"  so yeah gonna see if battery in it and if so, will have a play with it and report back :)

This is SO exciting!!

Update: 6:53pm

no battery in it :(  will have to wait till tomorrow, meanwhile paws are black from using big bro's screwdriver to unscrew the battery compartment. after the screwdriver cooled from him re-shaping it with the grinder.

Update: 7:14pm

despite the above setback am not grumbling too much, can't complain for a freebie :) Meanwhile am reading up about new camera and looking forward to playing with it.

For those that don't know...

I'm getting a SLR film camera! I'm so exicted about this xD one of my friends is upgrading to Digital and I'm getting his old SLR film camera!! xD he said he's gonna send it with a lens and some film, he's also spoken to a few of his friends and they've said they'll have a look and if they've got their SLR film cameras they'll send to me complete with lens, if one is attached with film too if they've some lying about!

So, I'm TRYING to be patient while waiting for the package, possible packages to arrive, but it's SO difficult! I WANTS IT NOW!! (in 3yr old voice). I know it will be worth the wait but still doesn't stop the imapatience! :P

He has given me tips and guidance about using a film camera, not how the camera works mind you! No idea if getting a manual or not so it will be a learning curve, I have a bridge camera than an ex got me, so am not completly going into the deep end.

Yes, I'll be sharing pics with you all and also my thoughts on SLR film camera (or cameras).

He told me to keep a notebook, with the film code on it (the code on the film itself), date, time and location. If doing a series of photos take note of each date, time and location. Which is something I was going to do anyway.

oh! one more thing before I go...

I WANTS IT NOW!! :P
